New movie rental service

As Amber mentioned we received our new Latin material. I went through Day 2’s lessons today and my right hand and wrist are tired and a bit sore. I haven’t written out stuff like this since college. These days I type almost everything so I wonder how long it’ll take to get back into “writing shape”.

I’m really looking forward to going through the program and (re)learning Latin. I had a year of it in High School and I suspect that some things will come back to me but I’m not sure how much. One thing that I’m already stumbling over is pronunciation. In HS, we used the classical pronunciation, but Amber and I are now learning the Roman/Church pronunciation. The biggest difference I’ve run into so far is in ‘v’ and ‘c’, but I think I’ll be able to adapt.

There are a few other subtle differences in pronunication. I want to follow the ecclesiastical, and of course the Latin for Children, which claims to be usable with “both” - only offers the classical on the instructional DVD’s. Lovely plan, there, folks. sigh

But Henle? Love Henle. Have you looked at the Dowling Method at all? That’s really helped cinch the ones that have given me problems. (The brain-as-a-sponge thing… well, that’s an ugly analogy when you think about the older kitchen “sponges”. Sometimes I need a little help here and there.)

    Way to go, you guys!

Thanks for the recommendation on the Dowling Method - I’ve tagged the URL and it looks like it dovetails nicely with Henle.
