That is a nice floor. I’ve become a big fan of tile–we just put some down in our kitchen. We did not, however, have the skill (or patience) to self-install, so I’m impressed by your straight lines.

Thanks, Jonathan. Yes we still need the vents but we’re not in any hurry. We’re going to lay out the wall tiles leaving space for the vents and just install them down the road.

Yes, I decided that it was a good time to start posting again.

I always knew that it was a big undertaking, but it’s turning out to be a bit bigger than I expected. It’s not that anything is all that difficult (except maybe plumbing) but it there’s a lot to do and it all takes time - especially when you don’t do it as a profession and you need to figure stuff out as you go along.

You must take pictures of your pregnant wife running the power tools! The kids will get a total kick out of that when they’re bigger, and it’ll give Mom virtual Superhero status in the eyes of your one-day teens!

FWIW, I despise running wire. But getting it run means you are thisclose to putting up drywall, and then it goes fast - wow, fast. Adrenaline-quality fast. You’ll love that part!

Dy, who, obviously, is getting caught up, and leaving scads of comments I don’t know if you’ll see… but I’m having fun getting caught up, anyway.

You wrote this so well, I had flashbacks. Don’t be hard on yourself when things take longer than you think they should - the learning curve is steep, sometimes. But in the end, the knowledge you will have accumulated is astounding! And, hey, YAY for you on thinking to double-check your crimps. Our Wonderful Neighbors in MD had to replace a huge portion of their ceiling in their living room b/c the contractors (licensed contractors!!) who built their townhouse weren’t so thorough in the upstairs bathroom. That wasn’t pretty!
