They’re done!
I just finished the Christmas stockings, and it isn’t even Christmas Eve!
I’m pretty pleased with how they all came out, although I think they could use a little cord or trim or something. Oh well, maybe some other year. We are still short two stocking hangers (we had three, but a cat knocked one off the mantle so now we are down to two) but I’m not sure if I’ll do anything about that this year. Here’s a picture for you all, so you can see the fruits of my labors.

How cute! Are they difficult to make? I definitely don’t qualify as “crafty”, and my sewing skills are pretty minimal. Do you think I could make some? Jonathan still doesn’t have a stocking.

They were pretty easy to make - my sewing skills aren’t exactly impressive either. I figured out what my pattern was going to be, then cut out two pieces of solid color (folded over, so that they were mirror images) then two pieces of the patterned fabric. I separated the two sides, and turned them so that I had the fronts facing. I stitched the top part closed, then folded it back open so that the right sides were out then ironed the seam. Then I pinned the front and the back together with the solid colored sides out and stitched those together, leaving the top 2-3″ unstitched. I then turned it right side out and stitched the remaining top 2-3″. I folded that over and pressed the stocking. Then I took some ribbon and sewed that to the side, so that the outside stitches would be hidden under the folded over part.
I hope that makes sense to anyone who’s wondering how I did it!
