Whoa
My blog got mentioned on a Catholic Underground podcast! (about 30 minutes in, in case you’re curious)
The mention is rather amusing because the reviewer couldn’t quite figure out the whole blog title thing and seemed to miss the link to my About Me page (linked in that black bar just below the top image, in case you’re wondering) but still, it is rather neat to be noticed and complemented.
He also gave a great and well deserved review to Jennifer’s blog. She’s a wonderful writer, and I thought it was really exciting to hear her blog get the praise it deserves.
Being mentioned like this is interesting - I’ve had it happen before and it (temporarily) changes my perception of my blog. It reminds me that what I am writing here is going out into the world and is being read by more people than just those who comment. It also makes me wonder if I should blog more about specific topics and less about others, because if my blog were more tightly focused, would I have more readers? But then I wonder, is that a goal I have? Should it be a goal of mine? Why do I have this blog thing anyways? It all comes down to that, really, doesn’t it. Too bad I haven’t figured that one out yet - I think I need a nice mission statement or something.
Or perhaps not. ![]()

I saw your post on Jennifer’s blog about the theology books you plan to read. That Theology of the Body was one of them piqued my interest. I’ve worked on the Wikipedia article some and found the concepts very interesting, but couldn’t make it through more than the contraception section. I think it would be great if you contributed to the Wikipedia article when you start reading Theology of the Body. (Or any other Wikipedia article - I think it’s a great project - I just have an interest in that one)

Yeah, I heard that too! I have to admit that I listened to the Podcast after seeing their URL in my referrals.
You have a great point that it’s important to remember that plenty of other people other than commentors read your site. Since there are frequently heated debates on my site, it’s easy for me to get bogged down and that and start “speaking” to only the five or six people who are involved in whatever that day’s topic is. Then every now and then I get an email from someone who’s never commented and it reminds me that our words really do reach many more people than we think.
