Everything is still going really well here in camping land! The weather here is really ideal for what we’re doing. It is very dry here, it doesn’t rain at all during the summer, and there isn’t even any dew on the ground in the morning. It gets cool at night, but it doesn’t start really cooling off until midnight or so, so the evenings are still comfortable. It is cool in the morning, but warms up by 9 or so. It still doesn’t usually get too hot - generally mid-80’s to maybe low 90’s. Yes, we live in Camelot. :-) It is hard to imagine how much more difficult this camping adventure would be in most of the rest of the country!

Right now I’m over at Matt’s grandparent’s, using their computer and internet connection. We also grabbed a shower, so that we wouldn’t be too offensive to those who have to be around us. I had a mad-cap visit to my parent’s last week, full of visits to family and friends. It was a great trip, but very busy! I had almost no time to sit in front of the computer at all. I’ll probably be going back for a couple days next week, then I won’t go back until the end of September.

The permit process is still poking along. We have our corrections back, and we should be done fixing all of that this week or maybe early next week. We’re hoping to get our permit just after Labor Day, but we shall see… We’re in line now for the SIPs (the panels our house will be built out of) and best case scenario we should be taking delivery of those at the end of the month. When I stand down in our camp and look up the hill, it is very hard to believe that in a little over a month there could be a house rising up not too far away.

I’ve started a garden already, and planted kale, carrots, chard, beets, bush beans, lettuce and one other thing I can never remember. I’m hoping that having some veggies on the property will cut down on the number of grocery trips I need to make. Veggies just don’t last as long in a cooler as they do in a refrigerator! It is also a neat project - I really enjoy gardening and I haven’t gotten to do much of it for quite a while. Right now I have two beds, and I’ll be expanding to the north once we have some dirt and stumps out of the way. I also need a gate and some additional fencing to keep out the deer, and hopefully we can get that done before we need it!

I’m almost caught up on finances, and I’m hoping to start checking blogs again in the next week or so. I did volunteer to help someone at church with the church website (I called to volunteer for something else and then I let it slip that I have web skills… I hope I haven’t bit off too big of a project!) I miss all you folks out there - I get occasional snippets from Matt (blog gossip, I guess!) but it just isn’t the same. Which reminds me - Congratulations, Dy! :-)

It’s a good life up here, I’m really glad we moved, and I’m really glad we’re doing this. It isn’t exactly easy, and I miss things like sinks and showers, but it is still well worth it.
