The Nut Family
My Mom: Help me out here (as we survey a collection of nuts in their shells) that’s an almond, that’s a brazil nut, there’s a hazel nut, that’s a walnut, and what’s that one? What other nuts are there?
Gregory (Clapping his hands): And DONUTS!

Thanks for your comment over on my blog. I actually was given ‘Deceptively Delicious’ for Christmas - by Nathan’s parents!
While many of the individual recipes aren’t altogether healthy, I love the author’s main premise: cook a bunch of veggies once a month or so, blend them into purees, freeze them, and use portions when you can sneak it into a recipe. It’s essentially what I was doing before - pureeing squash, or broccoli, and trying to mix it into spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, etc., but I hadn’t thought of doing big batches and freezing it. It makes it more convenient for me, and it makes it easier to be sneaky - i.e. Nathan doesn’t hear the blender and smell the veggies right before a meal and wander into the kitchen suspiciously.
On the off chance that some of his aversions are in his head, I don’t always tell him what I’ve put into his meals… is that wicked?
